personially, i don't believe that ANET intended for UA to be used in the way it was being used, ie ghost running. it's still a really good skill, i like the balance. thoughts?

lol.. UA had no role in vs farm what so ever.. just useful if the runner dies. Anyway..it was nerfed to get rid of ghostrunning and the speedclears. It just had to be nerfed

I don't think an infinite range res was anything that ANet would have intended. As always, the ways it gets used are sometimes unexpected, but they make changing the skill seem more sensible.

spellcasting range makes it utterly useless again as an elite skill. making the range compass (or spirit) i think would make it elite-worthy, without making it overpowered.

Radar range would have kept it functional while eliminating ghost running, UWSC rezzes, and Frog farming. The current change to UA is a clear example of a "quick fix" without looking into alternatives. Just like the idiotic SF nerf that nerfed everything but the Chaos plains farm.

Ever got the feeling that the developers don't play the game?

People really need to lay back and think over statements as this.

UA, as it is NOW, is:

Bar compression. Elite combined with the FASTEST CASTING REZ IN THE GAME.

Healer's Boon, only without the 50% faster casting time. However, it works on all monk spells, not just Healing Prayers.

An excellent target for an Arcane Mimicry since HB got changed to normal enchantment while UA is still maintained.

That's not "useless".

It's just a HB without the extra casting time, but more energy demanding, would work on all Monk skills and also allows you to instantly resurrect someone.

I wouldn't call either of them good, to be quite honest with you.

yup. i would have liked it to be "within earshot" but it's still a crazy good skill. UA + HB = super heal/ fast rez. still love the skill.

UA was an exploitation through ghost running. People exploited it to run through multi-level HM dungeons without fighting monsters in between to farm end dungeon chests. It was also used to farm IDS and various other farms to get from point A to B without fighting monsters in between. These monsters now serve no purpose in bringing challenges to the game.

Is that what ANet wants? I think not. I think you have better chance getting Ursan to be un-nerfed than UA.

Enemies in PvE don't spawn for heroes as they do with players. UA also happened to resurrect from anywhere in the map.

You're forgetting -1 Energy regen also.

Which is the reason why HB didn't see any serious play through PvP or PvE, outside of Tank 'N' Spank(This was pre-buff of HB). If you're running a mainly healing bar using HB to power it up, then you're going to be spending quite a bit of energy. If you're going to be using a mainly prot bar with today's UA, the healing wouldn't exactly be a need at all because you're already heavily mitigating damage with skills such as Aegis, and if you really want a heal take WoH for your elite, or if you don't want to spare your elite and want something else (For example, Divert Hexes, Aura of Faith, Restore Conditions, etc.) take Patient Spirit or Gift of Health, which are still quite powerful even at a low spec.

Maybe give it the HB treatment and give it a duration?

To be honest, the "rebirth-like rez" is a very strong effect for many groups. It's a resurrection spell that casts in 1/4 seconds and it rezzes you at full HP and full energy.
